You can use your friend's iPod as an external drive.

Instructions are here:

in the Shuttle My Projects and Music section.

Your problem is solved. You can always use iDUMP, a software that allows you to transfer your songs of your iPod to a PC. Connect your iPod and run iDump and you'll have access to all your songs, select the songs you want to transfer then pick a destination directory and how you would like your songs to be named. And then sit back and transfer all the selected songs to the PC. After that you can already add them in your music library in iTunes. It is easy to use. =)

The good news is iDump is FREE! Here is the link where you can download the software.

Yes there is a way. You ipod must have came with a wire that connects your ipod to your computer. Plug that into your friend's ipod and upload the songs to your computer. It should have an option under setting i think. Then you can download them on your computer. Check the manuals to make sure how to upload them to your computer

Actually, yes...you can.
It's called iPodRip 2.8
Put control of the iPod back in your hands with iPodRip, with the ultimate iPod companion. iPodRip supports importing of your songs to iTunes or a location on your hard drive as well as playback of songs.

For Windows OS: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/53729

On the mac it's called Podworks 2.8.5
For Mac OS X: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/17443

It works perfect.
