go to your local lumber supply and ask them for the best contractors in your area..

Check with local building material suppliers. Stay away from Home Depot and Lowes, but go with locally owned companies for this project. Get at least 3 or 4 estimates and be cautious with making any commitments right away. If a material delivery shows up before you have a contract, that builder is trying to "spike" the job by forcing you to use their services and/or may charge you to have the materials returned to the vendor. Be certain that they have a license, insurance and are bonded. The most important thing to do is talk with your local building supply store and go from there.

ALWAYS AND I MEAN ALWAYS check to see if they are licensed and insured.if not NO WAY.also call the state contractors board to see if the license is valid AND is in his name not some other guys name on the license. sometimes they are sneaky and they piggy-back off some other contractor.
then ask for three references.check the bbb.
i no this is a headache but well worth it it could save you your house and all your money.if this is in cal.all jobs over 500.00$ must be done by a licensed contractor.its the law.if he gives you a bide and no license he's breaking the law!!!

Get references from people you know who have had work done on their's, you can look into the yellow pages and then check them out through the BBB to see if they are registered. Also this will tell you if the business is legit. You can also see if this business have complaints against it.

I would check with neighbors also, and see who has had good expeeriences with. I would get several estimates, and try to go with someone listed with the Better business bureau having good customer service. I would not go with the yellow pages at all, and would be leery of using newspaper ads also.

Always get in touch with local retailers because their references are easy to check. Also, check with some neighbors, they may have used someone recently or know someone who did. Don't just trust the yellow pages. Good luck.

Get at least 3 quotes, and check the Better Business to see if the are reputable, than make your choice. You can ask Friends for recommendations too.

I would suggest talking to other homeowners in your area or local hardware stores where everyone knows everyone else. Homeowners are probably best because of their unbiased opinions and have probably had work done of their own and you may get a chance to check out the referred individuals work in person prior to contacting them.

my husband is a roofer and he said you should get severl estaments and make sure they have insures so if something happens it will cover it
