You're not being very personal ... sounds like your spending $10 on this kid because you have to ... and it's gong to feel that way to him to. Get him socks for Christ sakes.

it depends on what he prefer, this way you will show him that you know alot about him and that you care for him, also don't get him something that he already has, for example a music CD is not a good idea cuz he can always download music from the internet.

a videogame is a good gift, but most 10 bucks games are puzzle or games that people are no longer interested in, I don't think that is what you are looking for.

I guess a Tshirt is a great gift, you can get one for 10 or 15 bucks just make sure to get a nice one so he won't return it.

NEVER EVER think about giving him a greeting card only!!! greeting cards are like bacon they are great when they come with the sandwatch but you can't make a "bacon sandwatch"
so if you want to add a greeting card don't get him a small one, make it a large one, write alot inside it (write as much as you can, consider it an assignment) and put the card inside the gift.

Well, sadly, $10 doesn't go too far these days. Maybe if he has a favorite sports team you can get him a key chain or a tshirt...i know that's kinda silly, but there's not much out that's cheap anymore.

i would ask him to name a few things he wants then chose which ones you can afford to get or under $10. or you can just give him a gift card for a store in the mall somewhere. im pretty sure he'll find someway of using it.

Well.. you did not say how long you knew him.. nor whether you are friends or MORE THAN friends.. but since I do not know that and since it is less than $10.. I would go to Kohl's and get a nice funky t-shirt
