I guess I should be more specific about my fear...

How big of a stretch is it to see this tactic applied to other countries, to think that maybe, these people figured out they could do it to the richest nation on earth too, thus increasing their financial rewards exponentially. When you see the debt that this President has saddled the USA with, and when you factor in the connections to Halliburton, Enron, and other corporations that are not loyal to the United States...Is this the next evolution in what the Author of "Economic Hitman" describes? Are we seeing the subjugation of wealthy nations as well as the poor ones???? Look at the employment and salary figures for the United States since Bush took office! U.S. salaries have gone down every year under Bush, unemployment (in real % terms) has skyrocketed every year under Bush. Is this merely an expansion of the "hitman" tactics to include the United States???

I just read that book too, what an eye-opener.
But I don't think the US has anything to worry about, the hitmen usually work in developing countries that are cash strapped, that's why they are desperate to just give up their valuable resources for a teeny weeny cash.

It will always be questionable when foreign countries, especially those led by dictators, contract for huge projects involving US companies. A lot of these countries just really can't afford to survive and should probably be left to die a natural death. But hey, why not make a buck in the process?
