Adobe Acrobat Reader was created for the purpose of reading PDF files.
There are several free/nearly-free PDF writers out there, one is:

No cost if you don't mind viewing an ad when you create a PDF, otherwise you can buy the no-ads version for $10. Not a bad cost for what it does.
CutePDF Writer (free) is another fine option:

try having an acrobat distiller... you can distill your file so that it can be a pdf file... but this software requires a license... try pdf 995... visit www.software995.com this is for FREE!!! :)

You can download AA from the Internet. Or, go to your local Library and do your stuff....I'm sure their PCS would be loaded with all the standard programs.
