Yes, very normal. Especially the eating part. Fetus', like all of us, respond to sugar. Any food will do, but especially cookies, pastry, etc. Also, babies have their own awake times. You will get used to when this is, and as a matter of fact, he/she will probably continue this pattern after being born. But.. anyway, if you are ever worried about the baby.... lay down, be quiet, eat something. It is usually good to do this 1. when the baby is usually most active, and 2. the same time of each day. Later in your pregnancy (very late) you can assess the status of the baby by doing "kick counts". Again, eat, lay down, same time every day and count for 15 minutes the # of kicks during that period. Record it. Next day...same thing. If the number starts going down or changes dramatically, call your doctor. The decline would usually be over a three day period. If you lay down and don't feel movement, don't panic. For now (this early) it is very early for you to feel much of anything. For later in your pregnancy...get up, lay down again in a couple of hours. Hope this was helpful.

Being pregnant is an incredible, miraculous thing but as the Mom of the-baby-to-be, it is difficult too right? I mean, this baby is forming inside of you and you are going to know, feel, everything! Then it is also a time to me, for you to prepare yourself(though real life is the best preparation, nothing like just experiencing it, wish those babies came with an hour by hour book......)for becoming a Mom. So what you are doing right now? Wondering and worrying about whether this is normal..........it is all a part of it!!!! I think you should just try a little more sugar, or even a little caffeine(I had to do this, and believe me, HE WAS FINE!!)and you will find movement. I am sure things will be fine. If you don't feel anything then please call to your obstretician and get an ultrasound done or check the fetal heart rate, you'll know for sure then!!! Congratulations! Best of everything!!!

At 18 weeks it's not as big a deal not to feel the baby move, but again as everyone else has said it's better to get it checked out, better for you if nothing else because the less you have to worry about something the better everything thing will be and the more you can just in joy.

if youre concerned than what i would do is on a good day that the baby is moving normally i would do a kick count thats when you keep track of how many times the baby moves per hour it is a reeeeeally good habit to get into to avoid any worries you may have about movement in the future good luck and congrats

oh and i agree with mama bear i felt mine as early as 13 weeks and if you feel the baby is not moving enough you can always call the doc and go in to get checked never be ashamed or feel silly to call them if you don't feel right about something its what they get paid for

the baby is going to move more some days than other. and dont listen to those people who are saying its too early to be feeling movement. i am also 18 weeks and this baby kicks me like crazy. sometimes i can feel it from the outside. i'll even feel him curl up in a ball and stick his butt out. Its the coolest thing isnt it?

As long as you still fell the baby moving everyonce and a while yes. The baby maybe positioned differentlly so you won't feel as much movement. And they do have days where therre is less movement. If you are worried contact your MD.

I carried twins and I started to feel them moving at 20 weeks exactly.Your baby is still very small so depending on his/her position sometimes you wont be feeling it...until you reach 5 and a half months..then you will be feeling it moving around all the time.Dont worry and good luck!

Try drinking cold water with ice cubes in it. If that doesn't work, try some sort of fruit juice like orange juice...with ice cubes for extra stimulation.

If you still feel like the baby isn't responding, call your doctor so that they can do an ultrasound and fetal monitor just to make sure everything is okay.

When the baby is growing, it takes a lot out of them. They tend to sleep a lot. When they get their 'oats" in them they kick around. When the baby is listening to music, they hear the same thing you hear. You have nothing to worry about until about the ninth month, then baby wants to come out. If you don't hear baby shaking in there in your ninth month, then worry. Otherwise, drink lots of water, take your vitamins, eat right, and you'll do fine.
