keep your finger TIPS on the strings. later, you can lay them flat to cover two at a time.
short nails
keep the wrist far away from the neck...kind of pointing down to the floor.
invest in a metronome...it will help keep the tempo and worth the investment.
to toughen the fingers, after playing soak them in vinegar or put them in alum (in the spice aisle of the grocery store). my grandmother said she did that when she played the harp. worked for me too.
it takes time and practice, but it can be done.

Look at the first answer & you will see your answer. You have to stay at it. You have to build up your calluses & dexterity & you will never be good, unless you practice. The great Willie Mosconi was once approached by an adoring fan who said to him, Mr. Mosconi , you are the greatest pool player ever & i want to be like you. I practice everyday & hope to be great ;like you."" Willie then asked to see the lads hands & promptly told him to be on his way. The boy looked baffled & asked " WHAT I DO??" Willie asked him how many balls he hit a day & was told an hour or so. Willie then told him, that he hit thousands of balls everyday For countless hours a day, & that if he wanted to truly be a great pool player that he needs to get more serious about it. This plays as to how serious you wish to be as a guitar player. If you practice & study you will be good if you commit to the guitar you may be great , but if you don't practice at all you will never know the chance.

Don't let your arms rest on anything when you play. Try to keep your thumb in the middle of the neck (don't let it poke over the top of the fret board). Use all of your finger, don't shy away from hard cord forms or stretches. Keep you picking hand loose and not rigid or resting.
Finger strength-When your not playing press your thumb and first finger together, then your middle finger, then your ring, then your pinky, and repeat forwards and backwards.

Good luck playing guitar and have fun cause that is what's all about. And practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, and have fun!!!!!

try ur hardest and whatever you do, don't give up on it. You could look up guitar chords on the computer and teach your self, i heard that's the best way to do it. You could go to your local book store and get a book of chords, usally, they tell you how to do it, best wishes to you and it you already knew this info sorry for bugging you, my cousin plays guitar and he is tring to teach me, it's fun.

just mess with it,play with it and remember to place your thumb on the back of the fretboard you don'w want to become a total snot nosed slacker like that ffuck face eric clapton, or eles you will be remebered as a ***** face guitar player like him. Charro is a real guitar player and she is'nt even given the honors she desereve as a good git plyr. but earache clapton is and he cannot hold a candle to her. She is a flamenco guitarist and he is just a heroin loving guitar masturbater.
