ok i know im probably gonna get alot of angery answers but really i dont see what was so great about it... i know it was supposed to b a family movie but i know some people that say quote "its the best movie of all time"... ive seen the first 1 and thought it was ok but i didnt think it was a good as people were saying it was... so y do u think its such a great movie...

Alot of people like it because it is a family movie which is somewhat refreshing compared to alot of other stuff out there (not that I have anything against those either). It's a comedy so people like it for that reason as well. But even comedy is in the eye of the beholder.
If you don't like it, that's perfectly fine. Everyone has their own tastes which there is absolutely nothing wrong with. I don't think that much of other popular films that people rave about as being the best ever. But then I happen to like a wide range of films. Most people who tell you Pirates is the best ever are probably under 18 and experiencing their first ever celebrity crush, during which time everything else pales in comparison, and they only watch films starring that actor and no one else. But for someone to get angry with you just because you don't like what they do makes no sense at all.
From my experience, I have never met or seen anyone under 18 who thinks Johnny Depp (with or without eyeliner) is that hot. Usually it's the adult women who think that. And Orlando Bloom appeals to just as many grandma types as teenyboppers, amazingly enough.
I enjoyed both of them but I would not go so far as to say they were "the best movies ever".

The truth is it wasn't the greatest picture ever made - ran too long and required huge suspension of belief. However, the pirate film genre has been dead for many a moon and at least two generations have never gotten to see a swashbuckler, either good or bad, & that makes it a unique film for many people.
Hate to disappoint you, but I thought Johnny Depp was hotter than the surface of the sun as the dishonorable Captain, but then I have had a thing for him since he was a young un (I'm old enough to know better, but don't care!). I love the bad boys & see large doses of Keith Richards in his portrayal - think Keef is hot, too, SO guess what sequel I'm going to in line for next year.

Well I love it for it's originality, and I think it's funny. Everyone has different opinions, we just have to respect them. As for Johnny Depp, he's hot in Pirates, but not really without the make up. Cheers for not bagging it down like all those other guys, really nice of ya.

Personally, I love both movies because Johnny Depp is hot and an amazing actor, its a pretty cool plot line, and the 2nd one has really cool graphic animational stuff. They are pretty much my favoritemovies. Ever. But some people arent into that kind of movie, so Im not angry at you for having an opinion.

the Pirate genre has always been a staple of the movies, Disney was just the first to make one in this day and age that was easily accessable to all ages. but look back at some of the errol flynn movies that were popular back in the day. even princess bride tapped into the public love affair with pirates, something about being a step or two outside the law so to speak. pirates live on the other side of the line and snub their noses at authority, living just as they please. look at han solo in the starwars movies, people just love pirates and many wish they could live like that if just for a moment. disneys version allowed many folks to to just that for a little while

Frankly, nothing is go great about it. I thought the first one was halfway interesting, but I've always been a big fan of both Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush.
"Dead Man's Chest" bored me; I doubt that I'll see Pt. 3...except it looks as though Rush will be back, so they might squeeze another $10 out of me.

I loved the special effects, Johnny Depp acted like no other pirate seen before and the story line was easy to follow for all ages and funny too.

Yeah... I agree with u!! I watched the 1st one and it was dreadful. Very boring!! And I didn't even bother to watch the 2nd one, I have better ways of spending 5 dollars and two hours.... But it's such a big deal... I don't understand why people like it either!!
