It will start growing back right away. It will take it a couple of month to grow to full size again. Make sure to clean it, if the old one falls, it is fine, maybe even better so you can clean the nail bed well. You need do nothing else, it will grow by itself only if you keep it clean and treat any infections before it affects the ability of the nail to grow.

You should see a foot doctor....especially because of the infection. That can get into your bloodstream and cause all kinds of problems, some quite serious.
If the entire nail falls off, you have a 50/50 shot it will grow back, however, if it does it will look nothing like the original. It could be quite bumpy, thin or extremely thick and may need professional removal anyway because it too can cause all sorts of problems.
As I said before, seeing a good foot doctor is quite important.

The toe nail will grow back at the normal rate that your nails grow. However, if the nail was damaged at the back where it grows out from it may take a little longer.

Six months! Tell the truth, I stumped my big toe once and I suffered through the hurt and pain for several weeks. A year later, I noticed my big toe slanting towards the second toe. I later learned the toe was actually broken and I should have gone to a doctor.

You were very self controlled not to cry. I am a grown woman and when I fell and sprained my hand, I cried like a baby. (no one was home). There isn't anything to do about your toe nail but wait. It will fall off by itself (don't try to rush it) and before you know it your own fresh new toenail (that you like) will be there.

Your nail will grow back, may take up to 6 months-1year. I would not try to disguise it, covering it up could encourage a fungal infection which will lead to losing your nail repeatedly in years to come.
Hang in there, it'll grow back.

Dont pull it off....there will be a soft new one underneath when it falls off should be maybe 2-3 months maybe longer I cant remember. My daughter did the same thing when she was 3.
When it heals use polish to cover it up.
