"As safe as it was before George W Bush took office? Ah, if you think it was safe then you had your TV off for many years.

Do you remember the other attacks on the WTC?
Do you remember the attack on one of our Navy ships?
Do you remember the fighting in the Middle East?
Do you remember Sadam invading Kuwait?
Do you remember the airplanes exploding b/c of terrorists?
Do you remember the genocides 10 years ago?

Now, I am NOT saying that GB has helped us out any. I am personally more fearful today than I was before 9/11. Much of that has to do with how Bush has handled things. I think that we have more enemies today than 5 years ago. BUT, we can't presume to think that things haven't been getting WORSE AND WORSE over the past 10 years. We can't blame GB for an escalation that began intesifying even before he came into office.

Again, I'm not saying Bush hasn't done wrong (in my opinion). But, we can't blame everything on him. There are several more factors at play.

5 years from now, when the US is in utter chaos, more people will be asking that same question. They will cry out, "If only we didn't provoke our ememies into this never ending conflict!"

On the other hand, imagine a parallel universe, in which another President was in office on 9/11. A President that used a strategy based on peace. Now, project yourself 5 years from now into that future. If we are in chaos then, we will surely be saying, "If only we stood up and took action back when we had a chance!"

Bottom line is that no one can really say. At least, I can't. For that I would need to know the real truths ... and that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Safer. Bush ignored the Presidential Daily Brief just before 9/11 which said in big bold letters on the front "BIN LADEN DETERMINED TO ATTACK U.S.". Richard Clarke says that Bush didn't even care.

9/11 happened on Bush's watch. Bush cut the hunt for Bin Laden task force also. When Bin Laden and his boys attacked us, Bush did little. After a few months he said "I could care less about Bin Laden, I don't think about him". This man was part of the worst attack in U.S history and you could care less!!

Bush diverted troops to Iraq and not to go after Bin Laden. Bin Laden attacks us so lets invade Iraq!! That's like if your uncle beats up your mom, so you go after your neighbor, doesn't make sense.

Bush was going to hand our ports over to country's linked to terrorism. Bush has investments with the Bin Ladens (Carlyle Group).

The point is is it may or may not be just like it was when Clinton was in office, but it will be better when Bush is gone because lets face it, you can't do any worse then Bush.

And to roe. Reagan and Bush armed those same terrorists who attacked us. Also what did Reagan do when the Marine barracks were hit by Hezbollah killing hundreds of soldiers? NOTHING, he was to busy arming and training Bin Laden, Saddam, Iran.

Lets see, How many times was U.S attacked while Clinton was in office? What did he do about it?
How many times since George Bush has been in office? One time you say. What did he do about it?
How many times have we caught terrorists making plans to attack us again? I feel very safe with George in office.
Let the Democrats put all the spin they want on this one, but I think everyone including them, was getting a little paranoid , when each attack got worse and worse!

President Bush, did not cause 9/11,,, when are you people gonna wake up and realize, he has not caused all of these problems,,,, Clinton, left our country in the worse mess ever. It is a team effort about our safety, I feel as safe as I did before he took office.

Yes after the current administration is out of office! When we can get some politicians that understand what diplomacy is and are articulate enough to play the game (which means you are capable of developing a strategy).
The thought processes of the religious right cannot be substituted for real strategy and especially since we have no proof of their connection to devine guidance(ie. no waters have been parted lately etc.).

It is safer now. Before he took office, no one really cared about terrorists like Osama Bin Laden. Clinton had the chance to take him out before 9-11 and didn't do it.

I'd rather fight the terrorists in the deserts of the middle east
than on the streets of the USA.

it wouldn`t be this bad if clinton would have done more when they blasted a hole in the USS Cole, but he was too busy sending our job`s over sea`s by raising taxes so high the companies wouldn`t pay,Bush tryed to fix the problem, but when he saw he couldn`t,he just made things a little worse, and put us in a mess we can`t get out of
