Don't we really want a smart president so he can make the best decisions?

I never said Bush was unintelligent. If I implied it I didn't mean to. I was just thinking out loud.

Intelligence isn't everything, just look at all the socially maladjusted geeks who are technically brilliant in their field, but couldn't be trusted to manage a 7-11.

Presidents need maturity, social skills, and an even temperament. They also need leadership ability, something that's difficult to quantify.

Voters are responsible for picking qualified candidates, and electing the best of those into office. The Electoral College is also there as added protection, just in case the voters really drop the ball.

Oh, and Rico? Bush had a SAT score of 1206, which is equivalent to an I.Q. of 125. Care to share YOUR SAT score with the rest of us?

Absolutely not . Because someone have an high IQ doesnt really say if they have a good judgement. There is a Russian outside St Petersburg that have solved an 100 year mathematic problem. They claim he have one of the highest IQ they have measured. Instead of going to collect a price of 1 million dollar or even get a work as a mathematical proffessor he prefer to live home at his moms place and go out in the forest to pick mushroms.

He represents the entire Republican party and the most powerful country on earth and you call him unintelligent? What the hell are you doing to make anything better? Nothing. You and everyone like you are just looking for someone to blame when in reality if you would just do a little research you would find that Bush is actually a very small player in the worlds problems. No i dont think the president should have a certain IQ. Because you could be the smartest person in the world but when it comes to making descions, you end up not making very wise ones. So therefore i think as long as you can retain your self during certain situations and be wise about the actions and descions you make. Then you dont need a certain IQ.

And just an FYI Bush's SAT score was 1206 (which would be about 1280 today because of changes in scoring) This puts him in about the 90-95th percentile (that means he's smarter then 90-95% of the population)
And if youre curious, Gore's IQ is estimate to be higher then Bush's, Kerry's is MUCH lower. (roughly 99th and 50th percentiles respectively)

no...just because someone has a high IQ doesn't mean they have common sense...often, people with high IQ's know what they know because they read a book about it...the last time checked there wasn't a book on the market on how to make decisions that are going to affect other people for the rest of their lives. May I also add that (I think) there are a shortage of us on this earth with enough common sense to be allow to even raise a child.

I think that Bush's grand parents gave so much money to Harvard and Yale that when it came to allowing Bush to graduate they said, "We gotta kick up his grades and let him slide through with a C average, its' not like he's ever going to be president or anything"
