On yahoo instant messenger. I cannot get emotion icons when I'm in instant messenger?

When people send them to me all i see are symbols and letters representing the emotion icon. When i click on the little face with shades i get a gray box. If i scroll i get words telling me what is their. Help i would like to see some smiley faces

it sounds like you still have the old yahoo messenger the only thing you have to do is go to the yahoo web page, then up in the right hand corner you will see MESSENGER click on that and down load the new yahoo messenger.

while chting use the pic with a face and sepcs and choose the icons and send
