Well, I have a crush on my best friend but the problem is he's gay, so I know I don't have a chance. I try to move on and not let it bother me but the more I try the less it works. What's worse is that my step-dad won't let me talk to him because he's gay. My friend is really nice and he's one of the only people that would be there for me when I needed someone to talk to. I keep trying to talk to my step dad about how important my friend is to me but that just gets me yelled at. How can I tell my step-dad that gay people are just as normal as everyone else? And what should I do about my crush on my best friend?

Ok. You guys helped but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. My friend already knows I like him. Like I already said, I tryed talking to my step-dad. My mom likes him but still doesn't want me talking to him because of my step-dad. And all the straight guys I know are jerks, relatives, or just don't like me more than a friend. And I know my step-dad's a homophobe. That's why I want help on how to tell my him that gay people are as normal as we are. Thanks to everyone who helps. It means a lot!

I don't know your background (age etc.) but my best advice is to try and have a heart to heart with your step dad. Don't tell him this but he could be a homophobe. Tell your step dad you think of him as one of the girls. Then do. Point out that he will be the safest friend you could have, he doesn't just want sex. As for the romance angle find greener pastures. This man is worth more as a friend. He didn't choose to be gay. Just as you didn't choose to be attracted to him.

Good luck with that one this is a truly unique question I've dealed with best friend crushes on this board before but this could possibly be out of my advice range here. sorry but I'll try my best to answer.

Your step dad sound very stubborn, you can't live by the rules of him all the time, as far as the best friend goes maybe you should just tell him, get it out of your system, I don't know what else to tell you. sorry tried my best.
