They don't mind you playing them, they just don't like it becoming your life. Today, kids play for hours on end. It's like anything in life. It's OK if done in moderation. If you are spending all your time staring at a screen, that means you are not interacting with other people, your not getting any exercise and you're basically living in a fantasy world.

I think it depends on whether or not your parents played video games as kids. My parents always told me that games would rot my brain but I had a 4.0 in college, and I played A LOT of video games with my brother.

As a parent I'll let my kids play games for a certain amount of time, exercise and school work are important and can get blown off for a good game. I have a 2 year old daughter and I just bought her an educational video game, so I think video games have their merit.

I have seen some benefits in my children playing games, both on the computer, and on the game cube. I limit the amount of time they spend on them and make sure they do plenty of outdoor activities. I think they can definately get a bit obsesssed with the games and such, but it is the same thing with TV. My 5 year old loves Nick Jr online, and she has become very proficient on the computer- a positive this day and age!

As a parent, I see nothing wrong with any of them in limited doses. I believe what parents object to is a child playing them ALL the time, but then again, parents are the ones who have the responsibility to limit what their children do.

The caveat here is that I would not allow my children to play any games or watch video or TV if it was interfering with school work or household chores.

Hello, I'm a mom of twins and I don't mind if they play their computer games, etc....for a short time and then go out and socialize. There are other things to do as well, like exercise, biking, hiking, motorcrossing, etc....that stimulate the mind as well. It's as equally important for the children to maintain social verbal interaction...........as I tell my kids, Positive Manipulation is okay if done in the interest of the individual!!!!! To much of one thing is not a good thing, everything in life has a balance, the key is to find your own balance and live with it.....

Because they think that video games cause us to perform school shootings and junk like that. Or they don't want their kids spending too much time in front of a comp or computer. Or maybe they find the combat music annoying. Either way, a lot of parents just don't like their kids sitting in front of electronic devices for hours at a time. But we still enjoy it!

Because there is so much that children can be doing instead of playing computer games.

i have no idea

my parents always incouraged me to do it because i would get (and still do get) stressed a lot. and playing video games really releases stress well! it is also very good for the mind. it puts the brain to work instead of letting it rot by watching television.
