"Enter the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec, an E-Class sedan powered by the cleanest-burning diesel engine in the world. Clean enough to certify it in all 50 U.S. states."
So YES the Bluetec it's ok for Cali. The R will come after the E. Probably 4-6 months later, so it would still be 07.
Bluetec Mercs will be the E, GL, ML, R + the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

it should come out next year but only for 47 states. It won't be available for the green states as far as I know. SO if you live in a green state like me in Calif. Forget it.
Reason why ? It eventhough it is considered a ultra low emissions vehicle for a diesel, It still has a high NOx emission that doesn't comply with the Federal goverments standards for Green states Quoted here
" According to MBUSA "the 2007 E320 CDI Bluetec, ML320 CDI, and R320 CDI do not meet the emissions requirements of California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, or Vermont and are not available in these states."

Go to MercedesBenz.com. They should have a section that is called future vehicles and you could find out there. Or, you could call your local dealer and they will be able to tell you more details.
