well the normal habitat of a praying mantis is in and amongst long green grass in order to camouflage... they also frequent the leaves... but I am going to say that you can't find them if you are looking for them specifically.. .life doesn't just let you eat your cake... you have to just wait to come upon one.

See the tree trunks.You might find some of them nicely camouflaged.
