every time i go back to the pervious page it takes longer and it refreshes the page i'm trying to stop it from doing that. any ideas? thanks.

Assuming that you are using Internet Explorer...

Under tools chose Internet Options
Under the General Tab select settings by Temporary Internet Files and pick what you want your browser to do. I suspect you will want it to be never.

What you are looking for is called web caching... Web caching is the caching of web documents (e.g., HTML pages, images) in order to reduce bandwidth usage, server load, and perceived "lag". A balanced cache control can ensure freshness of the information and fast page loading.
