2) 3x^2+x-24 = (3x-8)(x+3) ==> (since 3x^2+9x-8x-8*3=3x^2+x-24)
So the answer is A

3) 7x+x^2=-12
so x^2+7x+12 = 0
Factorizing we get:
(x+3)(x+4)=0
Therefore x+3=0 or x+4=0
