Dirk Kuyt is a Dutch international striker. He has played most of his career at Feyenoord Rotterdam, which is a club in theDutch League. He has been scoring 20+ goals for his club for the past 3 seasons and has been wanting to move to the English Premier League for a long time now, even declaring at a press conference that if given the chance, he could replace Newcastle's legendary striker Alan Shearer.

Although Newcastle have decided to give that opportunity to Obefemi Martins, the talented young striker from Inter Milan., Liverpool have grabbed the chance and signed Kuyt just a wekk before the transfer window closes until Christmas. Rafa Benitez hopes that he will provide the steady stream of goals from up front which his team has been lacking ever since the departure of Michael Owen.

In his first EPL game, Dirk Kuyt has shown that he could be a vital player for Liverpool, not by scoring 20+ goals, but by his overall contribution to the side. In the second half against West Ham, he was lively and played more of a midfield role than as an out-and-out striker, he had a number of good shots saved by the goalkeeper and also created good opportunities for his teammates. I expect him to score maybe 10-15 goals this season. Whether that will suffice for this Liverpool side is not very certain, but he will undoubtedly play a good part in whatever success Liverpool achieve this season.

I dont think Kuyt will score the goals Liv'pool need to top the Premiership. As a matter of fact, i dont think highly of him as a striker but he'll provide some vital goals for them. The WC and the last game he played for Feyenood certainly were far from impressive. Hopefully, Benitez can bring out the best in him, otherwise, he'll be shown the door like Cisse.

Or maybe he'll just prove me wrong. We'll have to wait and see.
