the truck has been parked less then a year and it has some fuel still in the tank. Should I just remove the gas tank and drain all the gas? Or is there a risk using gas that has gone bad?

Listen to these idiots, "Pull the tank and drain it", what absolute horseshit !!!

Gas stays good for about 6 months. After that it is still good but not as efficient and if you have a new car you really should water it down so to speek. Fill the tank or add at least 10-15$

If you tank is full of it, through a bottle of injector cleaner in and drive out about 10-15$ so you can put some fresh gas in.

Really not a big worry.

WORD TO THE WISE:

If you know you are going to park your car for a long period of time, put some fuel stabilizer in the tank. This keeps the gas good for well over a year.

You must use that product before you park it though, don't put it in now, useless.

Remember

Fresh fuel to mix
fuel injector cleaner

To be honest if you do nothing and just drive it it wont harm a damn thing either but if you care about your car, follow the above Steps.

Don't listen to fools :)

I've had cars parked for ten years and still started with the "old"gas in it,however,I might of added a gallon or two of the fresh stuff but with all this ethanol added to our gas now,it may have a shorter life span and was told by several that,if you leave ethical treated gasoline in anything over the winter, without a stabilizer it'll gunk it up and/or even rust up the internal parts.i know it'll gunk up a carb on a Harley and power equipment,as it did mine. Also,I don't understand how a Billion year old substance can only last a year, when a human touches it.We need to utilize Water for Fuel, with 0 Emissions.Good Luck!!!!!

if it is a newer model car with the fuel pump in the tank, you need to pull the fuel tank and drain it, fuel starts breaking down in less then 6 months unless you add an additive to it, and fresh fuel. you will have deposits accumulate on the bottom of the tank, and as soon as you turn the key on the fuel pump will pick up what ever is sitting in the bottom of the tank. it will plug up the fuel pump filter, fuel pump, fuel lines and injectors, one costly repair. if you do not have a newer model car you can still plug up the fuel inlet sock on the pick up tube in the tank, also plug up the rest of the fuel system, once these additives start to separate and collect on the bottom of the tank, a chemical reaction occurs, it turns to what I call varnish and will coat everything it comes in contact with and will also be drawn through the sock filter on the end of the fuel pump or inlet tube. if it has been sitting a year, the break down has already started and if it smells sour, like old varnish, then pull the tank

If it has been less than a year, and there is 1/2 tank or less of the old gas, I think you will be OK to fill the tank with fresh gasoline.

As long as it has not been more than a year dont worry about draining it. I would pour some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and roll with it. WIll be fine.
ALso, change the fuel filter, you should be good to go.

Your'e close to the breakdown number (6-18 months depending on climate). You can buy a product called "Eagle Stabilizer" at your Home Depot that will re-energize the fuel. You should then drive this tank empty as soon as possible.

You should probably replace the battery in a car that has been sitting for a month. The gas should still be good.

it degrades over time, not set point between good and bad. one month is still good, several months it starts going bad but should still work fine. If it doesn't smell like vinegar in the tank try using it it shouldn't hurt the car, just make it run rough..
