I know the typical amount said is 200mcg but I've also heard cases of people taking 1000mcg to 1mg per day as a supplement.

High doses can cause skin irritations. This mineral has a very low toxicity. However, it is recommend that the safe amount to take is from 50 to 200 mcg per day. Any more than that, you are just urinating your money away. Your body will excrete what it doesn't need and it doesn't even need 200 mcg per day.
