Supplier is Melles Griot. Operating voltage is 2000V, and beam output is 5mW. Also, what is consequence of connecting with reversed DC polarity?

Go to Melles Griots' website and see if you can find the specification sheet for whatever model number it is that you have.

Or give them a call and ask one of their applications engineers.

Do you have just the HeNe tube itself? If so polarity probably isn't an issue. If you have the tube plus a power supply, then polarity (as well as operating voltage and power consumption) probably is.

usually , shield wire is ground and inner wire is the signal ( positive ) for coaxial cables. look in the manual. or contact the manufacturer. look on the net.

my guess. if you don't even know how to hook it up right you probably shouldn't play with lasers. leave it alone before you burn down the house.
