After I had my son I wore a supportive bra with a too small sports bra over it and a tight tank and then my t-shirt. I kept pressure on my breasts 24 hours a day and it only took about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks before my milk dried up. Be careful not to stimulate your breasts...warm water is a no no...keep your shower water as cool as you can stand and keep your back to the water as much as you can...it really helps.

Good luck!

I asked how to keep the breast milk from drying up and a few people told me that ya breast milk won't dry up till you've stoped feeding for 6 months. So I would say no longer then 6 months.

If you haven't breast fed at all it will take about a week for the pain and swelling to go away. You can ask your DR. for a pill that will help you dry up faster.

It took mine about two weeks. Your breasts will get really hard and hurt. Try not to sleep on your belly, because the weight on your breasts will make you leak. They don't give you pills anymore, or at least my Dr didn't. Wear a sports bra too, that will help. Good luck

Anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. For pain, use cold compresses (not warm as it will just express the milk).

After I stopped nursing it took maybe a month for my milk to totally dry up. Might be less if you don't nurse at all.

If your child is older and you've been in more of a "supplemental feeding" stage with your breastfeeding, you will not have as much pain or the engorged feeling (at least that was my experience).

Once we weaned my son, we didn't go back to nursing. I think it dried up in less than a week.

And the cabbage in your bra does help, BTW.

Mine took about a month having her natural, and only took about 2 weeks having a c-section.

Mine took a week... I had to wear two bras for support (I am big busted) and I had to keep applying camphor oil (found in most drugstores) all over them... and avoid hot water!
