My son has a PS2....not the slim version.
It has not worked well in the last year...It will not play games, even new ones....it defaults always to the Browser/System configuration....
I tried to take the PS2 to Best Buy and 2 independent shops for repair, but all declined to even try to repair it...
What is wrong and where can we get it fixed?

I had the same problem with mine. You can go to this website and fix it yourself.

Try checking the eye. Take it to a game store repair store. shouldnt charge too much.

if you have the manual the PS2 came with you can call the # and send it to Sony.
