I think that's what we're in store for, unfortunately. If you sanction one groups perversion then all the other perverts will be clamoring for legitimacy as well. It disgusts me, but there are already people trying to justify and legalize pedophilia. Why not bestiality?

This needs to be stopped now, because if we don't stop it, it will snowball out of control.

WHATEVER? a civil right has nothing to do with animal rights.
It's seems a blessing that one of the biggest supporters of gay rights was the late corretta scott king, Wife of the great Martin Luther King. If she was willing to stand up for what she believes in and gay rights were one of those agendas we are to be a proud community for having her fight for us. The holy union of marriage
was destroyed centuries before gay activists started taking stand.
YOU can't blame the gay community for that one. The gay community has been attacked for everything in history. How about giving them credit for education of the aids problem. the start of the epidemic has always been blamed on the gay community as well as the decline of america. But look at what community's are falling apart now because of there ignorance. Not the gay community. We have become a strong educated community.. proud of our accomplishments...hell you straight people must admire them, you end up mimicking everything the gay community creates anyway! Look who starts clothing styles, hair trends, fashion anything creative that's ever done. You might as well let the gay community get married. If every gay person would stop paying taxes maybe people would listen. Why should any citizen pay taxes to a country that doesnt acknowledge there rights?

There is an important point being implied by this question. It has to do with the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment and the way that it supposedly prohibits "discrimination."

The asker here is thinking that if government cannot "discriminate" against gays, then that in turn means that in general government cannot "discriminate" against any kind of immorality. I hope I correctly understand the asker.

This is the consequence that comes from the U.S. Supreme Court's outrageous ruling in Romer v. Evans and Lawrence v. Texas and the Massachusetts state court's ruling in Goodridge v. Dept. of Public Health.

I think pets can allready get married in this country but that has nothing to do with gay marriage. I could care less about gay marriage but I find the arugement that it threatens traditional marriage laughable. It's been on the outs since the 60's through no fault of gay marriage.

You know, you're right! Marriage is sacred! Just look at Hollywood, they're a perfect example of the sacred institution of marriage! Just look at all those people who get married in Vegas and divorced the next day because they were so drunk they didn't know what they were doing!
Just look at Anna Nicole Smith who married for LOVE, not the money!
Straight marriage is clearly a serious, sacred institution! What are they thinking, allowing gays to get married? Sheesh!

what i would like to know is why so many people care if gay people get married in the first place; let along pets. Don't we have an abundance of more important issues to deal with in our world today than who people are marrying? Everyone is too nosy.

No. But it's absurd enough to be true.

There have been Sci Fi books and movies about people marrying Androids and these date back before 1970.
