Daniel Boone was a pioneer who explored and helped settle Kentucky. The name Boone is everywhere to found in all corners of Kentucky. Daniel Boone National Forest, Boone County, Boone Tavern . . . etc.
I'm not old enough to have watched the television series Daniel Boone with Fess Parker when it orginally aired through Walt Disney, but I watched it in reruns as a kid. Being raised in Kentucky, Daniel Boone was part of our history classes in grade school. I was a bit confused by the series since none of what that show was about related to what I had studied as part of KY history. Especially having a pretty red headed wife. If I remember my history correctly, his wife died very young and didn't raise their children. His daughter was captured by the indians and I believe his son was killed by indians also.
I'm not sure about all that though, it's been a long time since I was in grade school studying Kentucky History. LOL
The 50s pop idol, singer Pat Boone is related to Daniel Boone, so is his daughter Debbie Boone of "You Light Up My LIfe" one hit wonder song fame. Pat Boone was not from Kentucky, but Debbie Boone married into the Rosemary Clooney Family (her son) . . . Rosemary was from Kentucky,
