funny only three republicans voted that burning the flag should stand and a whoping 30 democrates ... How can burning the flag that this country stands for, past and present, that a multitude of young men died for, paying the ultimate sacrifice conserving our freedom possibly make a statement other than, 'I hate my country'

I agree with the first guy! Burn the liberals, they are, afterall worth less than a flag. Oh, and that part about a liberal supporting our country??? Is that a joke? I mean, really? Keep liberals out of the core, they would only destroy it.
And have some respect. We are at war...have you stopped to think of how many people have died for what that flag stands for? Try going on google and looking up the rules our military has to follow in regards to the American flag. Respect it or move to Canada!

It is sad that flag burning has been interpreted by a liberal court to be freedom of speech. Flag burning shows true hate, and for the court to rule in their personal opinions just goes to show that the downfall of this once great country is based on what judges think and not what the law actually reads. A little common sense today would go a long way.

I wouldn't support anybody burning an American Flag there are more intelligent ways of making a point. It's amazing how focused people are on this point since there have been maybe 2 flag burnings in my lifetime. It's only power in burning a flag is offending those who defend the symbol over the substance it represents.

No, burning the flag by anyone is wrong. But I know some Republicans that leave the flag outside all night without a light on it and in the rain !

Is this question going out to classical liberals (i.e. libertarians and laissez-faire capitalists) or modern-liberals (i.e. socialists)?
Personally, being of the classical persuasion, I have the sincere belief that any law against flag burning is not only a law against free speech, but is also a law against private property rights. If I own a flag (or Qu'ran or Bible or whatever), it is my private property, and I should be free to burn it, as long as I don't infringe upon anybody else's property rights in the process.
This is the truly capitalistic answer. Anyone who disagrees with this answer is not a true capitalist.

Not any more than I would support a bunch of freaks in the back woods with ak47s doing training drills for when the UN invades. Although I'm not really a liberal. There are wackos on both sides so I really wouldn't get too bent out of shape. You have to take everything in context or you're gonna get really bitter ;-)

This Liberal Democrat has never burned an American Flag and doesn't really want anyone else to do it either. But honestly, how often do you think this happens outside of Iran or some other whack job Arab country??
You ask a lot of questions about it, so clearly it's on your mind.

burning the flag is a powerfull statement. it says that you despise our country and our way of life. it also feeds the fervor of those who hate America and that is aiding and abetting the enemy.....today that means your holding hands with terrorsits and liberals need to stop before someone whoops up on you.

One of the best things about living in a free country is our ability to disagree with they way we run it. Therefore, burning a flag, while offensive to some, is actually a "liberal's" way of reinforcing their support of the democratic system by which we live. If you think about it, we're all saying the same thing, just in a different way... One more reason we are lucky to live in North America.
