i was told as a kid that i was Generation X and that it was anyone born from 1962 to 1985. since i was born in 1984 i was told that i was Generation X. but recently i have been told that i am Generation Y. i don't get it.

I'm an X so you are a Y since you were born almost 20 years after me - but, who makes these things up, anyway? Does it make either one of us feel differently about ourselves? Not me!

Neither do I. I'm from the so-called "Generation X" and I thought that was a silly term too. I think it's all just some marketing jargon to mean "young people that your parents' generation lost touch with." When Generation Z comes out, I guess I'll know what "Baby Boomers" felt like since I'll be totally out of touch with what's going on by then. ;)
