I think a lot of people just have to make their opinions known, even if it doesn't really help the person asking the question.
There are times when I have an opinion about something and I realize in my response that i'm not really answering the question, so I just leave it alone and don't bother to post an answer.

Well, they could lie and make up an answer. I see what you mean though. It kind of defeats the purpose of getting your questions answered on here. If I don't know an answer I always provide suggestions on how to obtain it, or I attach a website with info.

It's a kind of personal rapport! The person sincerely believes the question was addressed to him, he/she owes you the answer! Then, the confession of not knowing the answer. Honesty revealed!

That's what I don't understand myself, though. How fun will it be to finally reach Level 6 or something and have people read through your answers and see that half of them say " I dunno" or "thanks for 2 pts!"
