Wicca received a lot of trouble in the 70's due to so many Satanist calling themselves witches and doing inhuman things not to mention that it didn't help that in the 70's and early 80's Hollywood was bent on giving us so much negative publicity that many feared the Witch hunts of old would return. Add to that things like the Inquisition, and the Salem Witch Hunts and most people who know nothing of Wicca tend to have a negative view of us. Thankfully there is more and more openness about our faith and the positive things being done by practitioners of Wicca that public opinion is starting to second guess their preconceived notions and just maybe a lot of old myths about us will finally be set aside.

It could be simple fear based on ignorance, but for the malicious nature of the ones who seem to hunt all questions about wicca or witchcraft and instantly attack. I think in their case it's more likely some sort of self-hatred that they project onto anyone they percieve as different, since anyone who doesn't play their 'game' and conform to their ideals must be a threat to the status quo. It's the same old stuff with the 'scapegoat'... I figure if idiots like that hate me - I must be doing something right. As I remember it can be hazardous to ones health to play along however - The last time someone said "OK. I'll be your scapegoat...", they nailed him to a cross or something.

It depends on the person. I did not post any bad comments and I wouldn't down anyone's religion at all. Wicca is an okay religion and all but some wiccans aren't so pleasent, just like any other religion. I think most hate in every situation comes from blind ignorance.

Hey I was just wondering did "GOD" himself tell you it was a grievous evil??? That is funny because wicca has only been a practicing religion for a little over 50 years. So how could "GOD" say that??? Here is some knowledge on the subject before you say Wicca or Wiccan has anything to do with the bible maybe paganism but not wicca or wiccan....Get your stuff right. Originally founded by the British civil servant Gerald Gardner, probably in the 1940s, although it was first openly revealed in 1954. Since its founding, various related Wiccan traditions have evolved, the original being Gardnerian Wicca, which is the name of the tradition that follows the specific beliefs and practices established by Gerald Gardner. Here is the link. You are just close minded. Christians are suppost to be accepting. It is not you who has to answer for others beliefs.

You only fear what you dont know. People judge us Wiccans because they dont know what we're all about. Instead of taking the time to find out, they jump to conclusions. They think we worship satan when we actually work with nature. They think we curse and kill people when we actually help them. Some people cant see past thier own beliefs, therefore they are blinded.
Blessed be!!!!

People fear what they dont understand, or what they arent familiar with. I dont know why, what is life without differences? it makes life intresting. But live and let live. The way i see it, if they want to be christians, or baptists, so be it. Thats the beauty of freedom. But they should just stay to themselves about it. You rarely see a wiccan bashing a christian. but it never fails for a christian to start bashing someone who dosent believe in thier god. The wiccan rede says "an ye harm none, do what ye will." everyone who dosent believe in wicca, and wants to preach to us wiccans, should look closer into the religion. We do not whorship the devil. Thats a christian concept. Believe it or not, we dont believe there is a satan. To all the believers of god, please please please, look into the religion before criticizing. And have an open mind.
Blessed Be!

Think of the long history of the witch hunts. If you think they don't happen today, look around. Yes, I believe people with no power CAN be afraid. They want to exert power that they do have. That's (in my humble opinion) what happens every time one group of people are overrun by another and stripped of their human rights.

Because they are too afraid of what they don't know to even learn anything about it. Because of all the negative and inaccurate stereotypes that are perpetuated throught the popular media that show all the wrong things about witches. Most people know very little to nothing and those that know nothing are too afraid of what they THINK they know about it to find out the actual truth.

People fear and hate what they don't understand, and tend to seek out and destroy it. Also, the old stereotypes from the burning times (Witch trials) add a lot of fuel to the fire. So does misquoted passages, such as the one kilroymaster quoted. The REAL passage is: " thou shall not suffer a POISONER OF THE WATERS to live,... NOT A WITCH.

discrimination. it really sucks. i have even seen questions bashing women in general and things like that. i get angry with a lot of people on here.
they are scared that we will curse them or something or think magick isnt real. there is even a branch of science that proves paranormal phenomena and magick (quantum physics). im sure a lot of these people are christian or something totally different from wiccan in general and dont believe much of science at all. nothing wrong with having beliefs, but nobody should be bashing anyone else.
blessed be.
