I live in the town where it was partially filmed. They said that where it was filmed here, it looked most like pt. pleasant WV. I don't think that the people of Pt. Pleasant wanted them to film there and this was the closest they could get to it looking the same. I hope this helped.

It's because some of the movie companies save cost by filming movies in other states and even Canada...Its all about how much a certain place wants from the studios to do there movie in that town..If the cost is lower somerwhere else they use that location that cost less in order to save money on the budget . This saves cost of production so they companies can use that money for other stuff like promotions and advertisment for there movie.

What a sweet movie. Very original. Supposedly based on a true story, though you can never find any good info on it. I guess the Mothman appears to a good number of people and this was just one occurrance.

The bit in the hotel room and the keys was powerful!

Most people from West Virginia are to spooked to let the filming of that film happen there. So they moved the set to Pennsylvania which has alot of the same topography of West Virgina.

Alot of films are shot in other places all depends on location and access to where they can film. I worked on the stand by stephen king and most of it was shot in Utah. The only part that wasn't was the Vegas scenes. They were actually done in vegas.

Because there was an actual collapse of that bridge..many lives were lost..I'm from WV originally.

You would be suprised to know that alot of hollywood films are not filmed on location for a variety of reasons.
