For a long time, I felt that way too. But, then I suddenly discovered a way out of it. I found the way to happiness in life. It's helping people! It's thinking about others. It's not thinking about yourself so much. Depression is turned on by negative thoughts. You can turn off depression with positive thoughts. If you change your way of thinking, your emotions will change automatically. Even doing little things for others will make you feel great inside. Things like helping an older woman carry one of her grocery bags (like I did when I was a teenager). Or helping a blind person cross the street. Or opening a door for a wheelchair-bound person. Every day, set a goal for yourself to do at least one good deed for someone. You'll be amazed how it changes your entire outlook on life. I finally found the answer to happiness, and you can too!

You're only in college! Your whole future is in front of you. I truly believe that we are all put here for a reason. We may not even know what that reason is until we meet our maker. If we all cashed out every time we felt like you do, there wouldn't be anyone left to answer your question :) Tomorrow's another day, baby. I can't promise that everything in the future will be great, but hey, I will promise that it will be interesting. Look at the world around you. There are so many people with much worse lives - war, floods, tsunamis (read about China lately?), sick people, poor people, people with terminally ill children. It might seem too simple, but sit down and count your blessings. Do you have someone who loves you? - a goal? - a future? Things are never as bad as they seem. Chin up, chest out, deep breath. Just DO it! God bless you.

Do you have any trusted friends or relatives that you can call now and ask if you can go to their place or if they can come to your place? This can really help you feel better. If you don't have anyone like that, if there is an emergency help line in your town/city you should call it now. If that doesn't help you, maybe you need to go to the nearest emergency room and tell them your feelings. They can help you get the assistance you need.
Remember that life is full of opportunities for pleasure and relaxation. I bet you can think of things to do right now that will make you feel better. Maybe a walk in a park? A book of poetry? A visit to a church where you can have a comforting talk with God? Whatever bad things you have on your mind are only a small part of your existence. There are other things that you can enjoy and receive comfort.

is it depression for a reason, or for no reason?
if it is depression for no reason, you need lots of vitamins, esp B vitamins [modern food uses lots of B vitamins] - get from savoury yeast, food yeast, flakey yeast - and doctor pills may well work, too -
and you may need to go off coffee, which destroys B vitamins - go off coffee for a month, and then have a coffee and see if it throws you immediately into depression - sometimes it is only bad cooffee that is bad - a good coffee, with beans roasted less than two days ago, may be alright
if it is depression for a reason, becaue the world is so bad in general, you need to check out a positive plan for improvement - see my other answers
if it is depression because of something in your particular life, you need to put thinking cap on, and try to think of solutions, and try to think where you can get solutions and ideas for solutions - grandma, grandpa, mother, father, brother, sister, friend, etc - ask them all and sift through their answers for nuggets of ideas
or just relax and dont get uptight about how you feel - just let it go, accept it, and realise that you can be depressed without freaking about it - just be depressed and be easy with it - all things change -
sometimes depression is creativity - the mind brooding towards some insight or creativity
writing freely, without effort or aim or judgement, writing anything that comes, can be healthy, can lead to change
a major cause of depression is school routine, work routine, ie, a life that isnt particularly about you -
to cure this, think of yourself in every occupation one by one, and think what you would like and what you would hate about being in that job - that way you will build up a sense of yourself, so you can better know what will fulfill you, what your ambition is, what gets your lifejuices flowing, what you in particular are about
your life situation may not be presenting the sort of things that will fulfill you, put a smile on your face - your life situation may be putting subtle or obvious pressure on you to do things that arent you - just because those things that are you arent what the people around you are into, or because people around you are controlling, not having found their own fulfilling things

Yes, don't die. Don't even think about suicide. You are precious. You have fingerprints that are unique to you. God knows how many hairs are on your head because He loves you and knows everything about you. Make an appointment with your Dr. get one if you don;t have one. Tell the doctor you are very depressed. You may need medication. If so, Take it. It can make life so much better. Hang in there.

In glancing through your questions and answers it does not seem that this statement of despair matches the content of your previous questions and answers. It is a little bit funny, I suppose, to watch people commiserate and offer their email addresses in the hope of helping you, who have written a flippant line with no explanation about the reasons for your feelings. I don't buy it but I do care about others who are really going through bad times and offer my support. I will say that human emotions are fleeting and deceptive and the more we take pride and companionship in ourselves the less we are impacted by the world around us. We obviously have senses and are meant to interact with the world but self worth should not be placed on the approval of those around us.

If you are depressed it is foolish of you to think - you want to die.
And what do you want to die for - a person, or a foolish mistake you made, you could not achieve what you want? What for?
Instead go for a morning walk and refresh your mind first.
Then chalk-out a fresh schedule for yourself as per your favourite interests.
And get cracking instead of behaving like a coward running away from the battle field.
Because only cowards think the way you think.

You may have clinical depression. You need to go to a doctor and tell him how you feel. If he determines you have clinical depression he will probably prescribe some meds for you and they will help you feel normal. If you are going through a tough time he can refer you to a psychologist or recommend some exercises etc to make you feel better.
