When they laugh at you just laugh along and admit how funny it was. There is no reason to be embarrassed peoples opinions mean nothing.

I can only think of 3 choices :
1) Act blur - whatever they say to you, you feign ignorance or just smile and not say anything. They will get tired when all the response they have from you is awkward silence.
2) Cry pitifully on the first mention of the episode - but it may backfire if all your schoolmates are mean and shallow. But then you'll know who cares for you enough to spare you from the humiliation.
3) Laugh and joke about it yourself, people like those who take things easy. After some time, it will pass as a memory anyway.
Last of all, who on Earth dont fart??? Its a healthy response...

You really can't get past the laughing and comments they'll makeJust except the fact that had an embarrassing moment. It will make things easier on you if you learn to laugh at it too.It could have been worse. You could have messed yourself. You think farting was bad, imagine if you did more than a fart.Lighten up,they'll get over it and so will you.Ask them if any of them ever did anything to embarrassing before. Some will still laugh, others will not laugh anymore, others will have been embarrassed but won't admit it.Keep your head up and show them that you have nothing more to be embarrassed about. You have other thing to think about, like your school work. That's your focus, not there stupid comments.

The way to handle this situation is to act like it is not a big deal. People will taunt you, continuously, if they think it really bothers you. When someone approaches you about it, say something like, "Oh well, that was funny. What can you do?" Another thing is to make up a funny response that distracts them from embarrassing topic. Also, you can switch topics to something exciting that is happening at school. Soon enough, embarrassing moment will happen to someone else and the kids will move on to that person.

Listen to skyraider and darkangel
skyraider is right about the transparency attittude - good call. Might as well be honest about it! I would be blushing like crazy for months.
darkangel makes a good point too - there are lots of people that would be proud to let 'er rip - my sister would be a good example.
And frankly, though I would be mortified to "fluff" in publice personally, I sure do think it's funny when my four year old does it!
And I must say, I do feel kinda proud when she does :-D

Laugh it off. I guarantee you that in a few days, nobody will care. Someone else will be getting made fun of for something even more petty. Just laugh, pretend it was no big deal, and then change the subject. Good luck!

Hey! just tell them that is naturally. Everyone fart too. Laugh together with them if they do so, if not don't mention about it any more. Don't try to explain, things will be worst. Maybe just tell joke with them saying " ya, god created fart to kill the unwanted and bad people, I am doing god a favour."

so what? if you did that it can't be undone. don't give it a thought. don't try to defend it either. ( I assume you are a kid ) if you want to , tell them that you will get written permission from them before farting next time. if others sense that you are upset and feel humiliated , there will never be an end to it. so dont bother. if someone make fun of you , laugh with them. its just like slipping and falling in mud in front of every one else.

I recommend just laugh with them as it's reasonable. Just accept the fact that it happened, and act as if you were overly embarrased but in a sort of nonchalant way, like you don't really care. Just don't fight it. Actually say how embarrased you are, shake your head, laugh, and say that sucks so much. All this attitude of transparency and looking for sympathy might disarm most of them.
