Well what works for me better than those other menstrual pills that take so long to work are aleve u could get them anywhere all u do is take 2 pills once you feel cramps and in no longer than 10 minutes it works and the cramps and bloating go away till ur last day of ur period. And my doctor says it works better for cramp pains cause mine get real bad to the point where i don't want to get up but once i take those everything goes back to normal.

If the period is really THAT bad - go to you doctor.
Periods can be painful but they dont HAVE to be and like i said above, if the pain is worse than you imagine is should be.. see your GP. There may be an underlying issue.
Otherwise if it is just normal everyday period pain..
Eat lots of green veg
Exercise - run jog walk swim stretch yoga anything to keep moving
Remember to breath regularly expecially when u are cramping
Ibuprofen/paracetamol - anything like that
Heat - apply heat to the area..

Its all part of being a girl! Yeah it sucks, but drinking lots of water days before you begin and doing some excercise like walking it out when you feel your worst really helps. Ibuprofen and OTC meds are safer than prescriptions for your period at all. Good luck!

i take 600-800 mgs of ibuprofin. If it is real bad I use a heat compress on my abdomen. The potassium in bananas are supposed to help as well.
For a cheap heat compress fill a tube sock with rice and ties off the end. Microwave for about 1 - 2 minutes. It will hold the heat for 20 + minutes and feels great.
Good luck!

Heat applied to the area of pain, by way of a heating pad always works for me. Try a hot bath if you don't have another source of heat to direct on the area.

Get a zip lock baggy and wet a washcloth then ring it out fully and fold it a little. Then put it in the bag and microwave it for about 2 mintes. Then put it on your lower stomach. The warmth will help any kind of cramping you're having. Or find some pain meds... lol.

I was prescribed Anaprox for my cramps. It worked wonders. Now that I'm older, the pain isn't as severe and I only take aspirin. I hear aspirin is good because it thins out your blood to help break up the blood clots that contribute to cramps. good luck, I know it's horrible.

I was taking panadol and it didnt help either. I finally had to have a polyp removed. Make sure your doctor knows how much pain you are in. If you havent had an ultrasound ask your doctor for one. I should have had mine removed sooner, I ended up with cancer and had to have a hysterectomy.

take vitamin E pills a week before your next period, not during. during the period, take midol, aleve, etc. if you endure really bad pain, then you should go to a doctor to make sure you do not have a condition known as endometriosis.

If you're not into medication (i try to avoid it myself)
When I was a teen we went through an exercise that was entirely mentally driven -- lay on your back in a dark room and envision yourself in the middle of the desert....the sun is baking down on you...it's so dry....so hot....keep this mental image in your mind....dry sand...dry air.....baking sun....for some reason, this always helped me -- mind over matter i guess lol that teacher was a genious!
