I have small black spots on the hood and roof of my white car, and I can't seem to get rid of them. I also have some type of sticky residue on my windowshield that I can't seem to get rid of. Any tips? Thanks for your help.

it sounds like tree sap on it,it may be possible to get this off with a real good washing,,and then you need a high speed buffer to get it off the paint,,as for the glass,,soak it with hot water,,and it will come off from it,,or ammonia,,and water will work on the glass,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

absolutely do not use brake fluid! it is corrosive to paint. try rubbing alcohol on the glass it may work on the paint too depending on what it is. the best thing to use on the paint is detailing clay (or also called overspray clay) - Mequiars makes it.
use soap and water to lubricate the clay and the car and rub the clay straight back and forth over the black spots - do not use a circular motion. keep everything lubed with the soap and water, the clay should slide easily. it will feel like it's not doing anything but you should see the spots disappear. afterward, wash the car and wax it.

Tar Remover. You can get it at any autoparts store in the cleaning supplies section (by the wax)
But then be sure to wax over the spots after they are clean, because tar remover will strip the wax off your paint as well.

First, attempt a claybar. it would desire to be you get fortunate and the mineral deposits have not fairly broken the clean coat. (that's no longer likely because washing it did no longer do something, yet is far less aggressive and somewhat worth a attempt.) If that doesn't do it, the minerals interior the water etched your paint, and you will would desire to apply a compound to eliminate the etching. as quickly as you get it out, make certain you wash and wax your automobile regularly and circumvent letting water dry on it!
