When I bought my betta which was 3 weeks ago, I noticed his attractive colour.. a yellowish head, blue and purple tail with red tips. But as I have been reading I have learned that betta's fin colours dull after a period of time. I took a better close at him and noticed that by looking at him from the side his blue belly and sides are slightly dulling and don't look as blue as his tail. They look.. somewhat.. faded. Is this just his colour or is his colour fading..? What can I do?

I clean his tank every week, it is a 3 gallon fish bowl. He lives in it alone, with a plant to hide in. I use Nutrafin Betta Plus Bowl Conditioner, and Nutrafin Fish Bowl Cleaner to remove waste and improver water quality. I also feed him Nutrafin Max.. and noticed that it says Natural Color Enhancer on the front!

There is beta food out there that will help him retain his color, you could try that. It's pretty easy to find, just read the beta food container and it should say on the front of the package. Also, test his water and make sure it's within the safe range.

He needs more effective gentle, i imagine. UV rays impression a fish's coloring, regularly for the more effective constructive. bypass your aquarium to an section that receives some direct hours of photo voltaic an afternoon. not direct solar all day, simply by the indisputable fact that could overheat the tank. that's hues could liven up! also, the more effective type in its diet, the fit it will be. it is genuine for all fish. Bettas also like infant shrimp. Mmm-mm. accessible at any high-quality puppy keep.

You're taking care of him perfectly fine, don't worry. The same thing happened to my betta fish, and he died one year later, which is the lifespan of an average betta. Just keep on with your routine, and feed him more brine shrimp and freeze-dried bloodworms.
(another thing, if your water is chlorinated, it is vital to let the water sit [without the fish inside] for about 24 hours, so it becomes distilled. Still do this process even if your water is well water. Sorry if you already do it! >.<)

could be any number of things
he could have a color changing/marble gene
could be wear and tear, old age
put him in a bigger tank with a submersible heater at 75-78 F.
ALWAYS use dechlorinators and other products to get rid of chlorine and heavy metals in the tap water before giving it to your fish- products are common and cheap.
watch what you feed him and watch like a hawk for sickness...

The best thing you can do is give him some LIVE food. And I don't mean tubifex worms. They really enjoy eating mosquito larvae, and you will have some enjoyment watching. This is one sure why to get those colors back!
And no you can't buy the mosquitoes, you have to go out and find them!

I thought they became really vivid when a female was in sight (they really show off then) or another male
how about a little mirror or a tank separator and another fish to show off to
