I'm assuming you're referring to the actual time of day. Some people think you're talking about the month. The reason the actual school calendars change is often due to tourism. Starting back later (not earlier) gives families the chance to vacation longer, creating more revenue for the government. As for the school days starting earlier- some people have given decent answers, but I still don't get it (and I'm an educator). Many studies have been done to show that teenagers are on a different biological clock than the rest of us. It just makes sense to start school later for them (but on the flip side- they wouldn't have as long to work for their part-time jobs). Perhaps it has to do with the fact that we're competing in a global market and need all the head starts we can get.

If you mean, why does school seem to start earlier and earlier each year, that's because it does. When I was in elementary school, the term didn't start until September. But toward the end of my schooling, it was starting back up again in August. And there was talk of actually making school a year-round thing, since there is so much new information to keep up with.

It is earlier and earlier.. TX teachers went back Aug 3 this year. There has been a law passed for the next school year which says we won't go back until the third week in August. This will mean a shorter Thanksgiving break and Christmas holiday. UGH!

It depends on where you are in the country. In some places, it is earlier. Many counties are adding days to their school calendars. Of course, we have much shorter school years than most other industrialized countries. For some reason, we still feel the need to give summers off so students can help out on their families' farms.

Yes, It seems like. School used to start at 7.30am, now they have to reach school latest by 7.10am to site infront of the flat pole to wait for the teaches and principal. And they call it the morning reading time for the children. Make it worst, 5 days work week make the children end school later too. When something implemented; there is advantage and disadvantages included.
So just follow the rules or give a good reason to debate with them.

I'm not sure where you are. I checked our local elementary school. We are the latest starting school in the district due to our location. We have started at 8:40, plus or minus 5 minutes since at least 1978. Not a whole lot of change. However, I do know that the high school has added a "zero hour" starting at 7:00 a.m. particularly for kids who are in sports or work programs. This allows them to get out of school 90 minutes early.

There are a myriad of reasons. The main one is that with schools being held so accountable to testing, they want as many teaching days possible before the test date. And, they want to finish the first semester before Christmas break. The first semester didn't used to conclude until the middle of January. So you had 2 weeks to forget information before final exams. Another big reason is the addition of days off. When I went to elementary and Jr. High school in the 70's, we did not get Spring Break. We began getting Spring Break in High School in the 80's. I checked my old school calendars to make sure. (My mom liked to save stuff!) Add another 3 days at Thanksgiving, we used to only get Thanksgiving Day and the next day off, now kids get a whole week. Another day comes at Easter. We used to just get Good Friday off, now kids get the following Monday too. We are up to 9 days so add Martin Luther King Jr. Day and we have 2 whole weeks to make up. Last, but not least, kids get out a week earlier in the Spring. We used to get out after Memorial Day (didn't even get that one off), but now kids get off the week before. Add'em up and count back from September and you get....mid August! This year August 10th!

its part of the master plan, when ur teachers talk to ur parents in private, theyre talking about it. parenst r being told to set clocks half an hour earlier every year so that we get off our parents bak. also ever wonder y ur teacher is acting weird? its because they replaced him/her with a robot so teavehers get a day off. when u ask ur parents for money they say they dont have any, cuz they were parting while u were at skool and didnt get paid as much. dont believe me? ask em and theyll deny it
