California. The Pacific Coast Highway has gorgeous views.
My most recent trip to New York was in January a few years back. Everything was *filthy*... and the sanitation workers *weren't* on strike. And even in January the office buildings were hot and stuffy and old and grody.
There's a lot more of California to love. I can't say much about New York state.
And who says California is the only place to have earthquakes?? I grew up in Alaska and we had them all the time and they're really not that big of a deal. And the East Coast *does* get them (Richmond, Virginia, had one last summer) but there is the theory that because the midAtlantic doesn't get them often, we'll end up getting a more destructive one eventually.

Well East coast girls are hip

california hands down. new york has a beauty of it's own, but california is by far the choice for dreams come true.

New York was one of the first choices of the terrorists of places to attack, and California may fall into the ocean. So...I'll stay right here in Indiana :)
