This ONE question has been debated for centuries. Is love enough for a couple to stay together? Lets say that they trust eachother, love eachother, NO kids together.... Is love enough to hold everything together when all they do is fight on the weekends, and dont see eachother all week long. The fights are always over something stupid and insignificant, but are still irritating, and last all weekend. So whatcha think? IS LOVE ENOUGH???

Not even close. A relationship is hard work, filled with ups and downs and compromise. Most people shy away from hard work, and that's why so many relationships and marriages fail. Timing is the most important thing that has to be in place for 2 people to come together. Trust is a close second, followed by compatibility. Love, the oldest myth running, is way down the list and usually just makes people hold on to an unhealthy relationship.

What it comes down to is what love is defined as, this is a subjective and very opinionated emotion.

So starting a question that has no factual back up will yield that in its answer, a subjective and very opinionated nonfactual answer.

That being said, love can be enough for some and not enough for others.

In my opinion if there is fighting and a lack of interaction between the two people involved then that isn't a display of love, so perhaps love is enough but the lack of it isn't.

Heres a thought, if you dont have love, what have you got? Think about it. Without it you have nothing, you can have all the trust in the world, but if you dont love each other then theres nothing there to hold it together. In some cases, love is all you have, and that keeps us together, you know the song, "Love will keep us together". Listen to it again and see what im saying. Good luck.

no way. love is the last thing on my priority list in a relationship. the relationship needs to be practical, compatible, emotional, and finiancially stable. love is overrated and i consider an icy on top.

i'll give you one fact to support my case: current divorce rate in U.S. reason why they divorce? not because there weren't any love, but it's due to finances and abuses.

people are hardly at peace with even themselves these days and they think love will conquorer any fights and disagreements? how about love yourself first, then work on people close to you.

Some people fight just to make up. If they didn't fight they just never would make love.

"The anger of lovers renews the strength of love." Credit Publilius Syrus. He wrote such balmy lines for Julius Caesar to quote to the lovers he abused.

No. It depends on how you USE that connection of love. I know a lot of couples who've managed to stay together in the absence of that connection because they knew how to handle each other and the situations they were going through. But I also know couples who had this connection, but didn't know how to use it in their favour.

See, it all depends on how you express the connection, you can't expect love to do it all for you.

Sounds like things have gotten old. Maybe you they should try to spice up the relationship. Do something different..

It takes more than just love to make a relationship work.

Only Divine love is great enough to satisfy. But with Divine love, the human love we find in this world will suffice us. Thou hast formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee. --Augustine of Hippo

I saw an interview with George Harrison (The Beatles) and they asked "Is love truly all you need"?
He paused a moment, smiled and said "No, but it's a good start".
