I think its rediculous. Ever since i was a boy this lovely peice of matter has been considered, rightly so, to be a planet. Now suddenly it has been stolen away like candy from a baby. This causes much hassle to many people around the world who will have to spend hours learning the order of the planets again and the wee acronym or whatever you call it to remember the planets will have to be changed and memorised again! These hours are hours that could be spent by people for much more important and useful things like curing illnesses and working toward world peace. Pluto: once a planet always a planet, in my mind anyway. Mon the pluto!!!!

I agree. Pluto should remain a planet. It is simply unfair to redefine it away.
Redefining Pluto as non-planet also takes away glory from Clyde Tombaugh, a great American Astronomer(who discovered Pluto), and it was not even 10 years since he tragically passed away.[1]
I feel that we should let Pluto stay a planet to honor Tombaugh if for nothing else.

As our astronomy technology becomes more sofisticated, we learn new things. Basically, we have found other rocks out near Pluto that cannot be classified as planets. Pluto is more similar to those rocks than the other 8 planets.

By the way, it will not take hours of memorization for people to realize that Pluto is no longer a planet. It will make very little if any change in the lives of most people.

And all the time I thought Pluto was Mickey Mouse's dog. Just kidding. Pluto is still a planet named after the Roman god of the underworld. Nothing has changed that just because a few bonehead astronomers have decided it is "too small to be a planet." Will Mercury be next to be called "just a rock."?

Because of its size and because it doesn't have a separate orbit as its orbit intersects with Neptune. And there are other bodies out there of the same size that we do not call planets. So, we call Pluto a dwarf planet. Nothing really changes except the semantics.

i know right!!! scientists should be curing cancer and planning ways to send humans to places we've never stepped foot, and feed the hungry and stuff like that. not worry about taking the planet status away from pluto, which has been a planet for a long time. the scientists just dont wanna admit they r wrong.

I hope the scientists realized that science books will have to be rewritten.
Now my favorite memory help My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizza's will change to My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nachos or something like that. Which sounds stupid.
I love Pluto. Its my favorite.

i dont really care if pluto is a planet or not i just think scientist should be doing something more valuable than argue over a stupid rock is a planet or not.

First, not all scientists agree with what you read in that news story. Second, astronomers will probably change their minds on this in a few years, so don't worry about it too much.
