Hello their my parents think I should buy a KIA Spectra or a Rio, they are looking at a used KIA Spectra 2004 w/under 30,000 miles. Or maybe a new Rio since they are such great deals on them. But I was just hoping anyone out ther that has one or has one to let me know what they think about the car. Have you had lots of problems with the car? Anything that I should know about the car before buying? I hope someone can help me my parents really want me to buy it but I know nothing about them.

Kia is owned by Hyundai, but Hyundai is a much more reliable vehicle by comparison. The Kia is a terible vehicle, after working on some Kia's for our low priced lot I find them to be very low quality, and rather difficult to repair. If your parents are looking for low price, please steer them away from the Kia. Hyundai makes a better quality product with fewer repairs. Tell them to look at a good used Hyundai Tiburon or Elantra, they are very cheap used and very attractive cars. My girlfriend drives a 99 Elantra and it has been a very good car. I think you would be more satisfied with the Hyundai versus the Kia.

They're a good car- reliable (Kia is owned by Hyundia and they have come a real long way in reliabitly in the past couple years) and safe. The best part is the fuel mileage- you can expect over 35+mpg if you drive conservatively. They also have a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty (on engine/trans ect) and a 5 year basic warranty, so they're pretty covered. Good vehicles for fuel economy and communiting.

Kias aren't the best of cars, but they're not horrible. I'm 17 and had one for a rental car after I got rear-ended, and couldn't feel any gayer (I'm a guy and the car was baby blue, not my choice). Kias are OK, just make sure it wasn't in any accidents.

If it's your first car it's probably the best car you'll get. Either way, both Kia and Hyundai are garbage.
