Well first off the BEST thing to do would be to let it go and be free...how would you feel being taken away from your home? Also turtles carry solmenila...NOT GOOD....VERY BAD...but if u want to keep it you should put it in a big tank with cool water, some rocks, yummy fishes, and get him a little friend...maybe a hermit crab or another turtle (but from a pet store) and u should probably take it to the vet to make sure it doesnt carry any diseases....but still....letting it go back in the pond is best.
P.S. Turtles are VERY hard to take care of unless your experienced...get books about them

Yes put him back in the pond. Turtles are not easy to keep as pets. They need a lot of special things and it takes a lot of time and money. If you keep it he will die.

Find a nearby pond and let him go. Otherwise he wont reproduce and ecollogically, its the same as if he died.

Yep, free him! Turtles are not good pets---even handling them you run the risk of e-coli. It's especially unwise to let young people handle them.
