Actually it is because men in our society are outrageously homophobic. Women are encouraged to do so because it makes them "sexually appealing" to men.

Maybe because men have an ego problem
If two girls dance with each other and are having a good time, maybe the guys sit back envious not having such a good time. Because they are either too shy to ask a girl to dance, or they think if they dance with a guy people will think they are Gay
So pride holds them back and the pride is the EGO lol
I have seen many guys dance in groups for EGO support : )

Because girls/women are by nature friendlier/more nurturing than men and they allow themselves (and I accentuate it: they allow THEMSELVES) much more freedom when it comes to these situations where they have to express themselves emotionally.
It's normal to see two girls holding each other or just casually clinging to each other. But it's not normal to see two guys, especially fully grown men being in each other's arms or casually feeling other's hair... Why? Because the current society interprets and labels this as 'gay' and apparently thinks that emotional connection between men shouldn't exceed certain boundaries (bullsh!t)

So... I think you know the answer yourself. There was really no need for this question. You know how the moral standards of our society work and they apply to everything, including dancing.

I have always wondered myself. Possibly because it is considered 'normal' for women to have close, non-sexual,supportive, relationships with other women and even if they have a sexual relationship it is not suspected. Because men have traditionally found women a mystery and have considered them, unlike men, to not be sexually driven, perhaps the act of women dancing together has been accepted at face value.

Double standards hon, we can't escape them.
Most people would rather see two lesbians than two gay guys...
A guy that has many girlfriends is called a player, a girl that has many boyfriends is a w!ore....
Lots of them around, don't worry too much. If you feel like dancing with a guy, knock yourself out !

Who's normal? Its acceptable either way unless you are holding each other. Then its a totally different situation, and I'm ok with that too.
