yes. The son will carry the fathers last name.

I have an 11 month old, and I am happy he is a boy. I feel that he will be the protector to my future daughter (other than me). ha ha ha

I'm not sure about all men. That's a pretty big statement to try and make. I think among men who want children, most probably want a son as well as a daughter.

I think their is certainly a societal learned value that trains men to want a son. The generalization that all men want a son is too sweeping to make however.

nope. i have 2 daughters and prefer them over boys. besides, then when they are older and fighting with mom, dad can go hide in the garage and stay out of the drama :)

Although a recent Gallup poll showed 45% of men prefer a son compared to 19% want a girl and the rest said sex didn't matter.

They want a son in there. The only reason my brother-in-law had five children is that he wanted a son (who was the last one)

I suppose most men want the "family name" to be carried on. I would have enjoyed having a boy or a girl. Must admit that I always wanted a girl.
Either, as long as they're healthy.

I have seen some men who love their daughters and hate their sons. I think if a man hates his son, it is because he hates himself.

Well i cant blame guys for being egocentric..lolzz but my view would be that they just want their firstborn to be a boy.If you have a surname, they would definitely want the family name to be carried down.Once a girl grows up and gets married, they would take the husband family name down..am i right in saying this?? I have 2boys..now my hubby desperately wants a girl!! Hope this have somehow help you out.Take care.
