take same size photo of the face of 1000 people; treat these data as a vector space, then construct an optimal (in the sense that the facial data becomes highly correlated) set of basis vectors called eigenfaces so that any photo can be expressed as a linear combination of these eignefaces. Then you can use these eigenfaces for efficient facial recognition.

"Good Statistics Project" is something of an oxymoron. But, if your last one was on oil, how about doing a statistical evaluation of oil discovery vs. geological features?
