I have to read it for a project but im not going to finish it on time. Im up to chapter 8 and i have to have it done by Tuesday before school starts because we are having a disscution on it. Please i need help.

I have to write a summery, point of veiw, theme, uniqueness, characters, plot, and setting. Also to have a book disscution on it with a bunch of other people. I have two days to read and i am on chapter 7.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this one ....

But consider that Sayuri is not really a solid protagonist within the story. She spends her whole time feeling sorry for herself, rejects the loyal feelings of Nobu, is saved from the hardships endured by most others during WWII (think about Pumpkin here) and that she was never truly grateful for what she was spared in those years, and pines the whole time for Iwamura.

Yes, she did get pretty much sold as a child (better then becoming a street child having to resorting to begging or to the fate of her sister) - but she was wishing to be whisked away by Mr. Tanaka anyways. It just gives weight to the 'be careful what you wish for' line.

Personally I don't think she had done anything selfless for anyone else to earn her happy ending.

....just my thoughts though.

I've read it like 3 times
what do you need help with?
it isnt a difficult read. the first 7 or so chapters are kinda boring. but it gets really good later

OMG, that is such a good book! Keep reading, you can't put it down! You will get that book done FAST and enjoy at the same time!
