a pence is a hundredth of a pound, just like the penny is a hundredth of a dollar.. so ten pence, is basically a dime.

it's worth 18.88 cents.

It depends on the value of the pound. Ten years ago a pound was equivalent to about $1.56 or something like that, but I don't know how much it's worth today. I don't know if that helps, but hope you get your answer. =)
