White is the most popular and when something is made in larger quantities it will cost less. Black does not sell as fast as the white so it will cost a little more. Stainless steel is a more expensive metal than the panels that they paint and they do not sell nearly as many as the white or the black and will be considerably more expensive.

honestly i dont know about the different paints and why they cost more, but the stainless steel is an extra layer of finish which costs more than a can of paint so that is why stainless costs more than painted.

Could be the above answers but I think P T Barnum may have covered it as well. (There's a sucker born every minute). Most of the cost difference is actually because market research shows the customer will pay more for a specific finish.

It all depends on popularity of the color. Manufacturers are always going to take advantage of what consumers want. Just think about all the times you have seen a sale on clothing, and the only color left is purple or orange (and in a size 3).
