I have a Western Digital destop drive. My power indicator is red, usually green? How can I remedy this ?

I have been trying to access my files to view saved photos. In attempting to do so I must use the desk top drive to access them. I've switched the power cords and that has not helped.

Take a look at the motherboard connection where the hard drive LED is plugged in. The connector is often labeled "HDD". Make sure that the place it is plugged into on the board says something about "HDD LED" or "HDD on one end and MOTHERBOARD On the other end.
