Yes... build a wall and arm it. No one gets in without papers. Immigrants must have someone to sponsor their move here. Babies born here are not automatically citizens (as Ireland recently changed their laws to be, must have one parent of Irish heritage to be a citizen at birth). All immigrants must learn English within a certain period or risk deportation.
All sounds simple to me... but don't hold your breath waiting for the politicians or government to do anything. They KNOW that the Hispanic population is growing faster than any other and they want to cater to them, so they will never approve of any heavy-duty changes to the border for fear of losing the Hispanic vote. The vote of current Americans doesnt' mean as much, I guess.

What is it with you people and your walls!? That is not the answer! Can you not see that by doing so you would be creating a monster, a monster of unlimited power fueled by rage and anger, fear and mistrust. You would be creating a huge racialy biased war! Think of what happend with the protests, that was just people exersising their rights. And what sparked it all was a bill that did not sit well with them at all. If you were to build a wall, arm it, deport everyone here illegaly, and separate familys in the process, someone, somewhere, from either side, race, religion. whatever, is going to make an offencive probably racial comment, and then....War. It would devastate the country, it would be in schools, work places, public areas. The United States would go into a darkness that i doubt it would ever emerge from again. So think about your wall and its consequences, are YOU willing to sacrifice so much?

Well, one way I look at it is that there is the security issue. If it had been Mexico that was attacked, they would want to tighten their borders more than they may be now. Hopefully, Mexico won't become another target. But they would be concerned that terrorists could sneak into Mexico as easily as they did into the US.
Besides, when we travel in and out of our own country and into a foreign country, our identifying papers have to be valid. That makes sense with or without the issue of terrorism.
I think if someone wants to move into another country and become a permanent resident, they should do it legally. So, yes, something should be done with those who sneak into a country and set up a life illegally.
It doesn't matter what country to and from. If I wanted to start a life in Mexico (or Canada), it would be better for me if I didn't sneak into the foreign country to do it.
I know people want to come to the US for a better life. But I don't think that they're going to have a better life, having to "live under the radar", to prevent being sent back home.

Specter, you arent Martin Luther King Jr. So dont act like it
I think we should put anyone who wants to come to the US to good use. Put them on the front line in the war and if they come back alive, let them be citizens. For the short toco eaters that dont want to fight for there right, we build a 45 foot high wall along the border that is firmly planted at least 15 feet into the ground (so they cant dig tunnels)
Thank you for your time.

Yes,15 million is an invasion.
Something has got to be done.I get really angry when I see this many illegal immigrants "flooding" into the country in such a short period of time.
Should the government do anything?
It should be top priority. We are worried about the iraq people more than we are worried about ourselves.
Hell,John Karr is topping the news right now.
Something MUST be done,do what ever you can do.

Yes, but what? Incarcerate them out our expense? I don't think so. Send them back to where they came from at our expense only to have them come right back? Not sure about that one either.
How about work camps? Leave them in it for a year. If they learn the language and look like they'll become good, hard-working citizens, then grant them temporary immunity until they prove themselves. After another year or so, they earn their citizenship.
That ought to bring some grief.
'Nuff said?

Yes. Close the borders and deport any illegal immigrant that is caught. IF they came in illegally then they can come back when they get the proper papers.

If it's such a big deal, build a wall. Why is this an issue now? Are the republicans trying to divert our attention from the failed war?
